Fellow members,

Mayor Mike says next week is Internet Week http://www.internetwe... so we got ourselves a super extra special one on Tuesday.

No new startups this time.

Instead, it's New York's Top Internet Companies........

* AlleyCorp (Kevin Ryan, CEO)
* DailyCandy (Catherine Levene, COO)
* Etsy (Rob Kalin, CEO)
* Huffington Post (Betsy Morgan, CEO & Jonah Peretti, Co-Founder)
* IAC (Joey Levin, SVP/M&A)
* The Ladders (Marc Cenedella, CEO)
* Meetup (Greg Whalin, CTO & Maya Voskoboynikov, GPM)
* Mimeo (David Uyttendaele & Jeff Stewart, Founders)
* Thumbplay (Chris Phenner, VPBD)

(There are other great internet companies born & bred in NYC, and maybe some top these. Who knows. This is an awesome group we slapped together. It's not an official list.)

Grill 'em, celebrate 'em. They gotta Get To The Demo like anyone.

IAC is graciously hosting cocktails! (Thanks IAC!)

== IMPORTANT DETAILS from Dawn Barber, our Co-Organizer ==

PLEASE REMEMBER 3 THINGS ABOUT RSVPs:

1. ONLY RSVP'D MEMBERS WILL BE ADMITTED. Be early (6:45!!), bring ID, and have $10 cash handy to keep the line moving. If you RSVP & don't show up, you're taking an in-demand spot from someone else and may be blacklisted in the future, so SHOW UP IF YOU'RE RSVP'd!

2. YOUR *NAME* AT http://www.meetup.com.... MUST BE YOUR FULL NAME BY 1:00PM Tuesday. RSVPs WITHOUT FULL NAMES WILL BE DELETED AFTER 1:15PM, making room for others.

So, if you miss out on the 200 slots that open Friday at 12:00noon check back after 1:15pm on Tuesday for possible open spots from those who did not include their full name & company affiliation or are new members who were booted.

IF SOMEONE WANTS TO WEBCAST IT, go for it, and post it on the message boards so more people can see what happens.

As always, SPECIAL THANKS to the VC firm of DFJ Gotham http://www.dfjgotham.... the law firm of Wilson Sonsini http://www.wsgr.com/W... and IAC http://www.iac.com/in... for their continued sponsorship of our NY Tech Meetup!

    It was all great - the presentations and the gather afterwards! Particularly appreciated Kevin's position that there's $35B in NY start-up activity. Can we get that slide posted somewhere?

Who attended?

    •  Tremendous!
    •  The best event so far. Some impressive NYC companies!
    •  I enjoyed hearing Internet company leaders' perspectives, even if some of it was pure marketing, and not enough about the daily or weekly struggles. Or maybe they're beyond having daily struggles...?
    •  Excellent Job!
    •  I thought this was one of the best meetups in a while because of the quality of presenters. I think that all meetups should have a mix of startups and maybe 1 or 2 established companies.
    •  I had a really great time, met lots of new and awesome people, and am in awe of the fabulous IAC map!
    •  Love the rapid fire format -- keeps people direct and to the point. And the speakers this time around were top notch.
    •  Good seeing everyone.
    •  Great, fun meeting. Nice to see NY startups succeeding and being innovative.
    •  Very well run.
    •  Usually I prefer just seeing early startups, but for Internet Week, this was a good exception.
    •  Excellent companies presenting... thanks...
    •  Excellent lineup of speakers. Great vibe.
    •  IAC is a great space compared to Union Hall. Great speakers. Great happy hour afterwards. Makes a big difference compared to other meetings.
    •  Love it Love it Love it
    •  OMG it was awesome!
    •  The talks were interesting and definitely a great way to introduce people to new technology.
    •  Best one so far this year! Would also like a chance for maybe smaller group meetups in addition to this one for deep-dive discussions on strategy / technical of each company vs. just a 5 min overview and 100 people swamping speakers afterwards
    •  Great cross section of NY Tech businesses! Thanks as always.
    •  Fantastic meet-up. Great buzz at last nights event - I really like the way Scott brings everyone together by saying 'we are the NY tech economy'. Thanks for bringing everyone together. It's inspiring to see the scale of the tech economy in NYC
    •  A great series of presenters from established NY internet companies. Debuting the new/forthcoming features to meetup.com was exciting and my favorite of the evening. Very impressed with the IAC location, and the food/drinks that followed was a fantastic treat. Delicious chips, veggies, olives, and beer.
    •  Great to hear about NY-based success stories, and specific things they are working on. Scott kept the pace up and there was good networking.
    •  It made me excited to be doing tech work in NYC
    •  - awesome; really interesting speakers and well planned
